Don't let your new U.S. President greet you with a 'fine how-do-you-do": if you're in the U.S., make sure to take your tail to the voting polls and say what you have to say! VOTE and make America sing! Happy Election Day! Also, who else wishes they could fill out their ballot in Disneyland's City Hall?!

I love this video. I'm wondering if it was from the 1976 election (although I didn't see any Bicentennial banners on that Main St. lamppost)....or from 1972, but that year the big promotion was "Pooh for President/Pooh in '72." I guess it could be from 1980 since Donald is driving a miniature "Love Bug" and "Herbie Goes Bananas" did come out that year. Either way....it rocks!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it awesome?! I would agree with you about '76, but after some careful inspection, at beginning of the reel the title says "Disneyland: Remember to Vote 11/78" ... as in November '78? Donald rollin' in behind the wheel of the Love Bug is pretty off-putting, although it is interesting to note the car has no headlights or windows! It also appears to be a scaled down size - it ONLY fits Donald, and barely! I wonder what this reel was used for originally?
ReplyDeleteA-ha! If I had just read the fine print, I would have seen that 11/78 at the beginning! Now I'm wondering what was going on in the election of 1978? It was a non-presidential election. Maybe the Abominable Snowman was running for something that year!
